ÁRPÁD GEORGE: FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY On January 29th the Board of Directors met with the Field Force in Ligonier, Pa. The weather was very had, the road conditions hazardous, parts of the Ohio and Pennsylvania Turnpikes were closed. Before the meeting we heard about the shocking news of the death of Mr. Paul St. Miklossy, Treasurer. Thank God none of the Board and Field Force members had an accident. The Board of Directors accepted the terms of compensation presented by the Secretary. The new compensation system was acceptable to our Field Force also. The Secretary reported that at the end of the year the two “PRODUCTION CONTESTS” helped us to meet the 1976 annual quota with 97% first year production. Nine Field Force members ended the year with the following amounts of over production: Joseph Molnár, Jr. $100,000 Dr. Tibor Köss 99,000 Dr. George Topor 79,500 Dr. Tibor Halo 76,000 John Szabó 65,000 Mrs. Irene Bakty 55,000 Dr. Daniel Vizsolyi 36,500 Mrs. Emma Aros 8,500 Mrs. Emma Oris 7,000 Total $526,500 All these persons deserve special recognition and thanks for their over production in a bad economy year. Five Field Force members finished the year with 90 to 100 per cent production: Dr. Antal Viczian 100% Alexander Hody 99% Albert St. Miklossy 98% Frank A. Dance 95% Mrs. Vilma Szabó 92% We acknowledge the dedicated work of these persons who practically met their annual quota re­quirements in spite of unemployment and inflation. In 1976 we welcomed into the fellowship of our Field Force the six new Section Managers of the Eastern Area who distinguished themselves in less than 12 months period of time with an impressive production: Louis Medgyessy $ 16,000 John Szabó 116,000 Maria Szabolcsy 22,500 Joseph Tegze 20,000 Frank Timko 30,000 Dr. George Topor 130,500 In 1977 the membership of our Field Force in­creased by the following new Section Managers: John Choinor (Cleveland, Ohio) Judit Köss (San Jose, California) Elizabeth Nagy (Washington, D.C.) Mrs. Susan Torok (Perth Amboy, N.J.) Mrs. Susanna Vizsolyi (Buffalo, N.Y.) Mr. Waszil Wayne (Cleveland, Ohio) On January 22nd the Secretary met with the New Jersey Field Force members. Rev. Leslie Egry opened the meeting with prayer. The Section Man­agers presented their respective quota requests for 1977 to the Secretary. The New Jersey branches were re-grouped in accordance with the location of the newly recruited Section Managers. Mr. William Pus­kas emphasized the importance of training the new Section Managers residing in his area. He will be in charge of their training program. The first training session was held on March 5th in our New Brunswick branch office. On January 12th the Secretary with Mr. László Eszenyi, Executive Vice President met with the mem­bers of the Stephaneum Ltd. concerning their new relocation problem. On January 13th met with Rev. Antal Borhas discussing the new site considered by the Hungarian Reformed Church in San Francisco as a new missionary place for worship and religious education. Dr. Tibor Köss, Section Manager and Mr. Stephen Seress, president of our San Jose branch were in charge of our transportation and introduced us to our key agents in the greater San Francisco area. We held the honor to be the guests of Rev. Antal Borbas, the Tosaky family, Rev. Bertalan Negyessy and Mr. and Mrs. Tibor Dolinszky. We thank our Section Managers, the pastors and the branch officers in the greater Los Angeles area for the courtesy of meeting with us on January 15th in the Dolinszky home. In the evening accepting the personal invitation extended to us by Miss Maria Fenyes we were the guest of honor of the dance spon­sored by the California Hungarians, weekly paper. In our next issue I will write in more detail about our California trip. We are thankful for the genuine Hun­garian hospitality we had the privilege to enjoy in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas. 5
