OFFICIAL MINUTES of the thirtieth Convention of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America THIRD DAY WEDNESDAY, JUNE 30, 1976 35. President Beky called the Convention to order at 9:10 A.M. 36. The Rev. Zoltán Király led the Convention in the morning devotion. 37. President Beky opened the Plenary Session of the Third Day at 9:16 A.M. 38. Recording secretary Domotor read the Roll Call. All 75 delegates were present. 39. Recording secretary Beretz read the Minutes of the Second Day Session. The minutes were accepted with minor corrections upon the motion of Geza Megyesy and seconded by Frank Jantek. President Beky appointed Frank Jantek, Olga Darnay and Dr. Lajos Fury to attest to the same. 40. President Beky requested a progress report from the appointed Committees. Dr. Stephen Szabó, Tibor Toth and Stephen Syposs, Vice Presidents and Chairman of their respective Committees all reported that they will complete their work during the day, and be ready to report on Thursday morning. 41. Mr. William Szuch presented a motion, seconded by Elmer Vargo that all Committees following the completion of their work adjourn and hold their closing devotions in Committee. The motion passed unanimously. 42. President Beky recognized Dr. August Molnár the Chairman of the Hungarian-American Foundation. Dr. Molnár presented a greetings on behalf of his organization and expressed gratitude for the support from the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America during the past. He also outlined the future program of the Foundation that will include the writing of the history of the Hungarians in America. He requested a grant of 5,000 dollars for this purpose. President Beky referred the request to the Finance Committee. 43. Controller Eszenyi was recognized by the President, he presented 300 dollars, the net profit from his book, to the Bethlen Home to be used for the renovation work of the Bethlen Home’s church building. The Convention applauded the generous donation. 44. President Beky recessed the meeting at 9:50 A.M. to reconvene Thursday morning at 9:00 A.M. Recording Secretaries Mrs. Irene Sakalo Frank Dance Imre Bogár FOURTH DAY THURSDAY, JULY 1, 1976 45. President Beky called the Convention to order at 9:15 A.M. 8 46. The morning devotions were led by Rev. Alexander Marton. 47. President Beky led the Convention in a short memorial service for Gazéi Veszprémi and delivered an eulogy in which he recited the life and work of former Vice President Vszprmi both in our Federation and in the community. He also included in his memorial prayer Aladar Fiok, Rev. Sándor Mircse, Lajos Varga, Rev. Arpad Bakay, Rev. József Marschalko, Col. Ferenc Koszorús, Margit Lévay Ezabo, Aranka Háló and the 1520 members of our Federation who died during the past four years. PLENARY SESSION 48. The President called the plenary session to order at 9:35 A.M. 49. Recording Secretary Beretz read the roll call and reported that all delegates were present. 50. Recording Secretary Domotor read the minutes of the session of the third day. The Convention accepted the minutes as read upon the motion of Mrs. Anna Sala, seconded by Geza Megyesi. 51. President Beky requested the following to attest the minutes: Mrs. Irene Sakalo, Frank Dance and Imre Bogár. 52. The report of the Executive and Fraternal Committee was presented by Mr. George Dózsa. The Chairman of the Committee Dean Tibor Toth. The Committee’s recommendations were as follows: a. The Committee examined the President’s Report and unanimously accepted his report and released the President from all of his responsibilities for the past four years. The Convention unanimously accepted the recommendation. b. The Committee recommends that the membership of our juvenile department’s educational contest be continued and that such contest be approved by the Board of Directors, with conditions set up by the Executive Committee. The Committee accepted an amendment from the floor that the contest be funded from the student aid and loan fund. Voted unanimously. c. The Committee recommends that the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America continue the moral and financial support of the American Hungarian Federation, with the financial support of 200 dollars per month. It was amended from the floor that the Board of Directors of The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America receive an activity and financial report from the American Hungarian Federation and that it be circulated among the Board of Directors. Unanimously adopted. d. The Committee recommends that the Rt. Rev. Dr. Zoltán Beky be made an Honorary President with the right to be present and to vote at all regular and special meetings of the Board of Directors. In recognition of their long and faithful years of service the following were made Honorary Members of the Board of Directors: Paul St. Miklossy treasurer, Very Rev. Tibor Toth, Dr. Stephen Szabó and Stephen Syposs vice presidents. At this point President Beky together with the other officers that were to be honored left the meeting room and turned the meeting over to Secretary Arpad George at 10:30 A.M Also all not delegates, press representatives, visitors and the recording secretaries of the Convention were respectfully asked to leave.
