The presentation was made by László L. Eszenyi, Controller with the following remarks: “Ladies and Gentlemen: The 80th Anniversary of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America is a festival of remembrance. We stop at this important milestone to draw a lesson from the past experiences and remember our fine leaders and workers who were primarily responsible for our growth and achievements. The members of the Board of Directors selected this festive occasion to pay special tribute to the late Gazel Vespremi who faithfully served the Federation from his early youth until his recent and untimely death. For the sake of those guests who did not know this remarkable man I wish to say a few words about him and his inspiring, exemplary life. Gazel was the incarnation of brotherly love and care. His deep concern for his fellowmen amounted sometimes to an obsession. But this magnificent obsession was the driving force behind his numerous civic and fraternal activities throughout his life. This made him a warmhearted family man, a faithful and active church member, a fine mason and an outstanding worker and leader of the Federation. He joined the ranks of our field-force as a very young man. Being an excellent organizer and a conscientious manager his star was fast rising. In 1952 he became the youngest member ever elected to the Supreme Council in the history of the Federation. He rendered later distinguished services to the Federation as Director of the Board and Vice-President for several terms. His pleasant personality and always helpful attitude gained many friends not only in our Federation but in the sister organizations as well. He left a wonderful legacy for all of us who care and work for the future of fraternalism and the Federation in particular.” ☆ ☆ 5
