English Section Rt. Rev. Árpád George: From the Office of the Secretary DISTRICT MEETINGS The meeting of our Board of Directors held on April 1 to 5 in Washington, D. C., was followed up by a series of regional meetings held in the four districts in which the Federation operates. Meetings were held on the following dates and places: May 18—Indiana Harbor June 8—McKeesport June 15—New Brunswick June 22—Cleveland The district meetings were attended by the National Officers, the local members of the Board of Directors, the District, Section and Branch Managers. At every district meeting, the clergy had a commendable representation. In 1974 we held all day district meetings. Beside the usual four National Officer reports, the Secretary introduced and explained the new life insurance plans and new applications and the Controller presented a computerization study. The question and answer periods were very educational and instructive. In Cleveland, Indiana Harbor and McKeesport, the ladies of our local branches prepared excellent meals of Hungarian style and delicacies. They deserve the recognition and thanks for their hard work and dedicated services. Following the supper in the church fellowship halls, President Beky presented the Federation’s awards to members in honor and appreciation of their fraternal, humanitarian and social services. In Indiana Harbor upon the recommendation of Dr. Arthur A. Ludwig, awards were given to Mrs. Alexander Mitro, nee Erzsébet Szilagyi, who is a Federation member since January 1, 1924 and Mrs. Nándor Saley, nee Rozsa Virág, a Federation member for 46 years celebrating her 75th birthday. In McKeesport upon the recommendation of Mr. Joseph Molnár, District Manager, an award were given to Mr. Stephen Üveges. In Cleveland, Ohio, President Beky gave awards to three persons in accordance with the recommendations received from Dr. Stephen Szabó, Vice President, Mr. William Aros and Mr. Elmer Vargo, Board of Directors; Mr. Alexander Szabadkai for his promotional work and radio Hungarian cultural services Mrs. Jolán Abel and Antal Bodo. Mr. Elmer Vargo, Board of Director, acted as toastmaster and called on our clergy and laymen guests to speak. The speakers made a great contribution to the success of the evening fellowship. * * * F.I.C. COURSE. The Board of Directors voted that our Field Force members should receive a week’s training at Ligonier, Pennsylvania. The course will be held on August 26-30. More than half of the members of our Field Force will take the course and the Fraternal Insurance Counsellor examination. * * * FIELD FORCE MEETING. The members of our Field Force will meet on August 31 in Ligonier with the National Officers. At the meeting the 1974 quota and production will be reviewed; promotional plans will be discussed; the new life insurance plans will he studied. A progress report will be made on the bilingual brochures, pamphlets and other needed promotional material.
