DEB DEBUT AT CLEVELAND BETHLEN BENEFIT BALL By Elmer E. Vargo. Director The evening of April 20, 1974 was a very festive occasion for the seven debutantes being presented at the Annual Bethlen Benefit “Magyar Est Ball.” vices at The First Hungarian Reformed Church. He is always welcome amongst us and we pray that the Almighty God will give him strength and good health to continue in this all important work of caring for our orphan children and old folks. Rev. Kalman Csia, Overseer and his wife were not with us but they also are an important part of the Home and our prayers are offered to them also. This is the largest social event of the year in the Buckeye Road community. It was certainly gratifying to see the hall filled to capacity with friends and relatives from near and far come back again to renew old acquaintances and enjoy fine fellowship. The highlight of the evening was the presenta­tion of the Debs to the audience as they were escorted to the front of the ballroom by their fathers. The Debs entering were a lovely sight, each wearing a pastel gown and tiarra and carrying a nosegay beneath the streamers and decorations of the ballroom. Music by the Tokay Orchestra filled the air and the guests danced the traditional csárdás, polka and waltzes to the early hours of the morning. It was a pleasure to have with us the Superin­tendent of The Bethlen Home, Rev, Louis Nagy. He is right at home in our midst and met many new friends and supporters of our Bethlen Home whom he thanked personally for their loyal support. The following day he delivered the sermons in both ser­The Directors of The Hungarian Reformed Fed­eration of America present with their wives were: Dr. Stephen Szabó, V.P.; Stephen Syposs, V.P.; William Aros and William Szuch, Directors and László Kernes, District Manager and Joseph Arnosky, Section Manager. This Benefit Ball is sponsored each year by the Women’s Guild of The First Hungarian Reformed Church. Those in charge were: Mrs. Tillie Zachow- ski, President; Mrs. John Teigiser, V.P. and Mrs. Joseph Arnosky, deb chairman. We express our heartfelt thanks to the members of The Women’s Guild for their time and efforts in making this a successful event. As you already know the new wing to our Old Folk's Home is under construction and we are very much in need of your continued support and ask that you make any additional contributions through the Church office.
