CLEVELAND BRANCH NO. 4 CHRISTMAS PARTY Elmer E. Vargo, Director It was a gala evening filled with the true Fraternal spirit of our Federation on the evening of December 4, 1971. This was the Annual Christmas Party for the members of Branch No. 4 and their guests. A very delicious dinner was prepared by Mrs. Mary Balogh, President along with her Officers: Mrs. Eliza­beth Livak, V.P.; Mrs. Anna Kara, Secretary; Mrs. Vera Salem and Mrs. Louis Juriasz, Auditors. We are for­tunate to have in our midst such dedicated members and extend to them our thanks for contributing to the success of the evening. The greetings from the Home Office were brought by the National Secretary, Rev. Arpad George who expressed the thanks of his fellow Officers for the invi­tation as they always look forward to a Cleveland visit, especially to Branch No. 4 where the Fraternal work is flourishing. Members of the Board of Directors and Field Force present were: Dr. Stephen Szabó, Y. P.; Elmer E. Vargo and William Aros, Ohio Directors; William Szuch, Pa. Director; László V. Kernes, District Manager and Joseph Arnosky, Section Manager all accompanied by their lovely wives. Also present was Mrs. Jolán Abel and her husband along with Sándor Szabadkai. Left to right—Mrs. Stephen Szabó, Paul Szabó, Rev. Arpad George, Dr. Stephen Szabó, Elmer E. Vargo, William Szuch and William Aros. The Toastmaster, Elmer E. Vargo remarked that the evening was filled with such gaiety and our hopes and desires are that those in attendance will continue to work for the growth of our Federation and also the support of our Bethlen Home in Ligonier, Pa. Part of the group in attendance enjoying the gala evening. The evening was concluded with the singing of Christmas Carols led by Mrs. Betty Galgany who each year organizes the Ligonier trips which are most success­ful for our Bethlen Home. Thanks to her for the fine job done this evening and we pray that God will con­tinue to give strength and guidance to our ever faithful workers. This was followed by the distribution of gifts to the children present which were donated by the above mentioned members of the Board of Directors. MEMORIAL SERVICE REV. WILLIAM B. FURGESS t. * J In i' The Rev. William B. Furgess, pastor of the Bethle­hem Presbyterian Church Sharon, Penna., from 1947 until his death in 1966, was remembered at a Memorial Service held in the Church on August 28, 1971. A portrait was unveiled by Mrs. Furgess following the Worship Service. At the reception speakers were Mrs. Furgess, Lois Ann Furgess, daughter of the de­ceased, Rev. Alexander Marton, Youngstown, Ohio, Mr. John Kaborie, Chief-Elder, and Mr. William Szuch, Director of The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. Rev. Furgess was a member of the Board of Managers of our Bethlen Home in Ligonier, Pa. 19
