John Balint. The Hungarian Press was represented hy Maria Fenyes, Andor Fisher Fay and Zoltán V. Szaba­dos publisher and commissioner. The program was of the highest artistic standard. Zita Szeleczky, movie star, lead the list of entertainers. She was followed by Kato Saltzer pianist, István Czovek, Lajos Lendvay and the Kárpátok Nepi Együttes college students dance group. The piano accompanist was Margaret Szabó. The deli­cious food was prepared by the San Fernando Valley Ladies Association led by Mrs. Stephen Szabó. Secre­tary George extended the greetings of President Beky, thanked the sponsoring committee for its excellent work, acknowledged the wonderful cooperation of the clergy, layleaders, local societies, praised the actors and actresses for their high quality artistic perform­ances and gave a brief historical review of the Federa­tion’s 75 and the Bethlen Home’s 50 years of dedicated services. In accordance with the request of President Beky gold medal awards were given to: Mrs. Albert Hady, Mrs. Anthony Szabó, Mrs. Joseph Torma, Rev. Bertalan Negyessy, Mr. Tibor Dolinszkv. SAN FRANCISCO. On November 6th, our 75th anniversary celebration started in the San Francisco Stephaneum auditorium at 2:00 o’clock with a later dinner banquet. The menu consisted of many Hunga­rian delicasies and the food was excellent. The women deserve the highest praise for the hard work and the quality of food surpassed the art of professional chefs. They worked under the leadership of Ferenc Vigil and served the special anniversary cake prepared hy László Molnár. The banquet started at 2:30 o’clock with the warm greetings of Father Nimrod and the table grace was offered hy the elderly professor Jesuit priest holding a Doctor of Physicist degree and a specialist in atomic mathematics. Mr. Jeno Nemeth, our San Francisco branch manager took over the responsible position of Master of Ceremonies for the evening. He served during World War II as a major in the chief staff of the Hun­garian Army. Father Dr. Joseph Jaszovsky, a former close associate of cardinal Mindszenty, the spiritual father of the Hungarian Roman Catholic congregation made an excellent address appealing to the need of uniting all Christians into a common front against the ungodly materialistic elements determined to rule the world. Zita Szeleczky Hungarian movie star was invited from Los Angeles to recite poems and sing songs appeal­ing to the Hungarian music loving hearts. Dr. Ede Ágoston, poet recited his special poem written for the 75th anniversary of the Federation. It was dedicated to President Beky. Elizabeth Kovács Tarczy, radio singer, appeared in gypsy costume and sung Hungarian gypsy songs to the great joy of the audience. She was accom­panied hy László Lendvay Czakany. Dr. Karoly Szabó, a specialist of Hungarian folk songs sung selected num­bers accompanied by his wife. Bela Csikesz linguist and artist sung kuruc songs of ancient tunes accom- pained hy Mrs. Szabolcs Kalman. She continued with piano solo selections. The choir of Stephaneum entered the hall he singing “kicsi a haz” and other selections. The Monterey dance group under the leadership of Gyöngyi Gahan dance artist and the San Francisco dance group under the instruction of professor Dr. Szilard Szabó performed Hungarian group folk dances to the great joy of the audience. Secretary Arpad George thanked Dr. Tibor Köss, Section Manager for his hard work in preparing the program and his fellow workers, especially the officers of the Stephaneum for their excellent cooperation. He gave a brief historical background of the Federation and reviewed the humanitarian and cultural work done by the Federation during the past 75 years and by the Bethlen Home during the past 50 years. In accordance with the request of President Beky gold medal awards were given to: Dr. Tibor Köss, Mr. Jeno Nemeth, Mr. Joseph Tosaky and Mr. Tibor Csorgo. McKEESPORT. The Reverend Barnabas Roczey was installed into the pastorate of the McKeesport Free Magyar Reformed Church on November 14th hy Bishop Dezső Abraham. The Bishop also preached the Hun­garian sermon and the newly installed pastor delivered his English sermon to the congregation. Secretary George offered the English pastoral prayer and extended the greetings and best wishes of President Beky and the Federation to pastor Roczey and the congregation. It was really an ecumenical service and banquet: 3- pas­tors representing the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, 6 pastors representing Calvin Synod, one having affiliation with the Lutheran Church and Father Seregi, pastor and professor of the Theological Seminary belonging to the Greek Catholic Church. Both the church and the fellowship auditorium were packed with the well wishers and friends of pastor Roczey. CLEVELAND. The 80th Anniversary of the 1st Cleveland Hungarian Reformed Church was held on September 19th. Bishop Arpad Beretz and Dr. Vierst preached the Hungarian and English sermons at the worship service. Secretary George offered the English pastoral prayer. 650 persons attended the banquet. The Master of Ceremonies was Dr. Joseph Piri who read the personal message of President Beky. Secretary George introduced the Board of Directors: Rt. Rev. Stephen Szabó, William Aros, William Szuch and Elmer Vargo. He also introduced our local representatives: Mr. Joseph Arnosky, Mr. László Kernes and Mrs. Jolán Abel. Pas­tor Stephen Szabó, the Vice-President of the Federa­tion, received special citations and awards for his out­standing community work from the State, County and City. 15
