District Meetings We planned to coordinate our 75th anniversary celebrations with our district field force and branch managers meetings. Our first anniversary worship service was held on March 29th the opening day of our Board of Directors meeting. The Right Reverend Dr. Stephen Szabó, vice- president preached about the story of Gideon and his little army reduced in size selected by God. The heavenly Father always selected a few persons to accomplish marvelous achievements in human history. Seventy-five years ago God chose a few dedicated persons with dreams and visions to organize the Federation as founding fathers. In seven and a half decades the Federation became a fraternal organization of 35,000 members with assets of $16,568,728.72. The first anniversary banquet was held in the evening. President Zoltán Beky in his banquet speech delivered before our Board of Directors and Home Office Employees reviewed the great accomplishments of our Federation during the past 75 years. He listed the many humanitarian financial aids given to the churches, the Bethlen Home, for student scholarships, to our members in need and to the Hungarian people. The Pittsburgh, New Brunswick and Cleveland anniversary banquets were well organized by the committees appointed by our President. Our local Board of Directors, our District Section and Branch Managers and the clergymen served on the committees with admirable dedication. At all three places the banquet halls were filled to capacity. Many late reservation requests could not be accepted because all the seats were sold out. Recognition and praise should be given to the committee members in charge for the work being done so well. Prior to the evening banquets our district branch managers meetings were held in the afternoon. We had excellent attendance at all meetings. We were particularly happy that the clergymen also showed an exceptional great interest in the work of our Federation. We were pleased to recognize their presence and welcome them as our honored guests. We were also happy to observe the presence of our local Board of Directors. Our meetings were opened with singing and prayer. President Beky extended the official and personal greetings and welcome of the Federation to the attending members and the distinguished guests. He gave a brief summary of the promotional work, the financial standing and the progress made by the Federation during the 22 past year. He also presented a detailed report about the Study Contest and reviewed the fraternal services of the Federation through his department. He praised the Field Force members and thanked the Branch Managers for their marvelous and fruitful promotional work. He encouraged them to continue their work with dedicated spirits throughout our anniversary year. The secretary reviewed the 1970 production. Such growth of our insurance in force was not experienced for many years. He praised the hard working field force members and branch managers for their most praiseworthy work. He also introduced Mr. Alexander Hody as our new Section Manager in the New Brunswick area and Mr. A. S. Tatar, our new Section Manager in Toronto, Canada. Mr. Hody is a new man in the insurance field. He learned fraternal insurance by working as an agent with Mr. Daniel Laskay. His pastor, the Reverend Imre Bertalan our Board Member has great hope in his work for our Federation, Mr. Tatar has been a professional insurance broker in Canada for many years. His production record as of April 30th was 151%. We hope that through his services our Canadian work will be revitalized. He urged all the Federation’s fellow workers to use the Bethlen Home Summer School, the Study Contests, the 75th anniversary banquets and the 75th anniversary production and membership conservation contests advantageously in their 1971 promotional drive. Mr. Paul St. Miklossy, Treasurer reported that the Federation’s assets increased from $15,925,641.55 to $16,568,728.72 in 1970, an increase of $643,087.17, as compared with the increase of $580,893.94 in 1969. Our ratio of assets to liabilities increased from 112.00 to 112.02%. The yield of our invested assets increased from 4.59% to 4.81%. The Federation also had an increase in dues which is an indication of our healthy promotional work. He emphasized the importance of mailing the monthly reports and checks regularly and punctually every month to the Home Office. Mr. László Eszenyi, Controller reported that the Federation had the pleasant experience in 1970 of an impressive increase in the amount of premium dues collected and also an escalation of $1,321,201 of our insurance in force. He emphasized the collection procedures and all technicalities in connection with branch management. He also reminded the branch managers that the Internal Revenue Service agents might check the branch receipts. It is advisable to keep their monthly branch reports in good order.
