WINNERS OF THE “STUDY CONTEST” OF OUR FEDERATION Our Federation sponsored a “Study Contest” among our young members attending Colleges or Universities during the summer of 1970. The total amount of the Awards was $3,000.00 equally divided in the five promotional districts and one for the Boy Scouts. The themes were as follows: 1. The contribution made by American Hungarians in the historical and cultural development of America. 2. The religious, social, fraternal and charitable work of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. 3. Outstanding individual work in science, sociology and art. There were 25 contestants. Out of those, 11 were selected as winners and were approved by the Board of Directors at the September meeting. FIRST PRIZE WINNERS WERE: Richard W. We also support the Youth Camps and Conferences of the different denominations. Every year we have Summer School in our Bethlen Home. We support the “Hungarian Language Chair” at four Universities. We have always gone to the farthest limit possible to preserve the Hungarian heritage among our young members, and we will continue to do so in the future. FIRST PRIZE WINNER Donald A. Vespremi Bom Sept. 13, 1947 in Wyandotte, Michigan. Lived in Detroit with parents Donna and Gazel Vespremi. Attended Taylor Parks Elementary School, Charles E. Brake Jr. High, and graduated from Taylor Center High School in June of 1965. After graduation attended Electronics Institute of Technology in Detroit for two years. Decided to become a preacher of the Gospel and went to Milligan College in East Tennessee for one year. Transferred to Atlanta Christian College in fall of 1968 and, at present, is a Junior at Atlanta Christian College in Atlanta, Georgia. At present, works at United Parcel Service in Atlanta, Georgia and is the Youth Minister of Antioch Christian Church in Canton, Georgia. The entire family are members of the Federation. I have been a member of the Federation since birth— 23 years. Letter of Thanks: Dear Dr. Békv: I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful gift as a winner of the National Youth Study Contest. It was a tremendous surprise when I received it and it is being used to help me further my education here at Atlanta Christian College. Aros Born on August 15, 1947 in Lorain, Ohio. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Aros, 4125 Edgewood Drive, Lorain, Ohio. In 1965 graduated from Admiral Ging High School, Lorain, Ohio.
