1 1 SECRETARY’S REPORT FOR 1968 Mr. President, Members of the Board of Directors: The administrative duties and organization activities of the Secretary’s Department were performed by the Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy until January 31, the date of his resignation from office; by Dr. Zoltán Beky, László L. Eszenyi and Paul St. Miklossy, National Officers until August 31; and by the newly elected Secretary until December 31, 1968. Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy presented his secretarial report to the Spring Meeting of the Board of Directors. In the reports of the National Officers references are made of their respective services in connection with their work performed in relation to the Department of the Secretary. In my first report to the Board of Directors, in accordance with the 1964 edition of our By-Laws, I endeavour to give an outline and summary of the work done throughout the whole year. I. ADMINISTRATION 1. State and Provincial Licenses. The 1968 licenses were received from the thirteen states and the three Canadian provinces of our operation. 2. Board of Directors. a. ) During the year two regular and four special meetings were held by the Board of Directors. b. ) The following were sent to the Members: Invitations to and Minutes of all meetings; the Annual Reports of the National Officers; the proposed amendments and revisions of our By-Laws prepared by the National Officers; monthly production reports with all circulars mailed to the Field Force. c. ) The following were presented at the meetings: the Agenda for all meetings; Annual Statements; Blum and Wizon Company’s report and analysis. 3. Convention The Twenty-Eighth Convention was held from June 24 thru 27 at the Bethlen Home and Holiday Inn, Ligonier, Pa. The election of the delegates and alternates was conducted in accordance with the By-Laws and the directives of the Board of Directors. The Convention was constituted of 16 members of the Board of Directors; (Gazel Vespremi, Vice- President was absent because of illness and Emery Király was present but having no right of vote;) and 51 Branch Delegates. Total number of elected Officers and Delegates: 67; total number of voting members present: 65. Recording Secretaries: Rev. Dr. Andrew' Harsanyi and Rev. Joseph Marsalko. Advisory Members with right of voice but no vote: the Rt. Rev. Alexander Daroczy, Superintendent of the Bethlen Home, Alex B. Eger, Jr., Legal Counsellor, Dr. Frank S. Horvath, Medical Director, Max Blum, Accountant, Jerry Wizon. Accountant. The invitations to the meeting and the quadrennial reports of the National Officers were mailed to the delegates. The Convention program and the proposed amendments and revisions of the By-Laws recommended by the Board of Directors and copies of the 1964 edition of the By-Laws were distributed to the delegates. 4. Executive Committee During the year 52 Executive Committee meetings were held. Paul St. Miklossy, Recording Secretary will give a detailed report of these meetings. 5. Disciplinary Matters. During the year there was no need for any disciplinary action. 6. Fraternity. Our Official Paper was edited by Dr. Zoltán Beky, President and published at the Bethlen Freedom Press, Inc., Ligonier, Pa. During the four months in my office I have co-operated with the President by writing promotional and fraternal articles in English and Hungarian. 7. Office Staff. During the year the staff members of the Secretary Department were: Marta Marschalko, Katalin Galanthai- Nagy, Tibor Baksy and Desmond Garanyi. All employees deserve recognition and praise for their dedicated work and faithful services. 8. Office Work. A detailed outline of the work, services and material of the Secretary’s Department was sent to our Field Force and distributed at the District meetings to the branch managers. II. I recommend the approval in the organization of a new branch in Canada and the mergers in the USA branches as stated in Section. 3. I urge that acceptance be given to the changes in the branch managing personnel. 4. The Branch Statistical Report clearly shows that in more than half of our branches something radically must be done to make them more productive and make the managers more co-operative with their respective District and 11
