Sándor E. Chomos: Your Sorrow Is Our Sorrow Once again, the American Hungarian Reformed people gathered in McKeesport, Pa. on March 5, 1969, hut this time it was for a sad occasion. We came to say goodbye and bury Mrs. Elizabeth Nagy, wife of a dear friend, a beloved pastor, and our former bishop, the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy. It is very hard to realize that a few hours before her death, we sang and participated in the Lord’s Supper together on Sunday, March 2, and afterward, we departed saying, “See you next Sunday.” — But the Almighty God chose otherwise; she departed from this earthly life on Monday morning at 6 o’clock. Elizabeth Nagy, nee Elizabeth Ruszkay was born on September 20, in Csiz, Hungary, where she met Louis Nagy, then a young minister. God was very gracious to this young couple and blessed them with four children: one son, Louis, three daughters, Anne Maria, Elizabeth, and Jolanda. Over the last 18 years, she became loved by all the members of the McKeesport (Pa.) congregation. Those of us who knew her, loved and admired her for her devotion to her husband and family through all the suffering and hardship they went through during their last years in Hungary and the years that followed. Truly she lived up to the name of “Tiszteletes Asszony’’. Ministers and laymen representing our churches from all denominations, from Connecticut to Florida, from West Virginia to Michigan, they all came to pay their respects and to share the sorrow of the bereaved family, for their loss was our loss, too. “I came here to comfort you, but how can I, when my heart is full of sorrow too... ”— said Bishop Beky and those words expressed everyone’s feeling. Tuesday evening, services were conducted by the Rt. Rev. Bishop Dezső Abraham and Rev. Stephen Kovács (Trenton, N. J.). Participants in the funeral services in the chapel, church and the cemetery were: Rt. Rev. Bishop Zoltán Beky, president of the Hungarian Reformed Federation delivered the Hungarian sermon; English sermon by Rev. László Harangi. Others serving were: Bishop Dezső Abraham, Dr. John Butosi, president of the Calvin Synod UCC, Tibor Toth, Dr. Stephen Szabó, Alexander Daroczy, Stephen Szőke, Nicholas Wesselényi, Aaron Elek, Sándor Marton and Arpad George. Besides her family she is survived by her mother, Mrs. István Ruszkay, her sister, Mrs. Katalin Danis, her brothers Gyula Ruszkay and József Ruszkay all in Hungary and relatives both in Hungary and in the U. S. There are no words to express our sympathy to Rev. Louis Nagy and his family — our prayers join with theirs to the Almighty Father for his guidance through this earthly life of ours.
