MINUTES OF THE TWENTY-EIGHTH CONVENTION OF THE HUNGARIAN REFORMED FEDERATION OF AMERICA (Continued from preceeding issue) THIRD DAY Wednesday, June 26, 1968 41. (President Beky called the Convention to order at 9:25 a.m. 42. Dr. László Vatai led the Convention in the morning devotions. Plenary Session 43. President Beky opened the Plenary Session of the Third Day at 9:35 a-in. 44. Recording Secretary Dr. Harsanyi read the Roll Call. The Roll Call showed all the accredited delegates and guests present with the exception of the following: Louis Nagy (excused until noon, Alex Eger and Jerry Wizon (excused on account of a meeting); Zoltán Szabó, Joseph Gyenes, Imre Bota. Andrew Harto’s excuse for yesterday’s absence was accepted. 45. President Beky called upon the chairman of the committees to report on the progress of their work. Dr. Sza­bó, for the Administrative Committee, said he hoped to be ready by about 3 p.m.; Stephen Syposs, for the Financial Committee, said they were working hard but could not say when they would be ready; George E. K. Borsihy, for the Bethlen Home Committee, said they would be ready by to­night. President Beky announced that in any case there would foe a plenary session at 5:30 pun. today. 46. Recording Secretary Marsalko read the Minutes of the Session of the Second Day. The following corrections were made: Item 4 of the IMinutes of the First Day’s Session, correction to the correction: number of members of the Su­preme Officers and of the Supreme Council should read: 16 members, 15 members present of whom 14 members are vot­ing members; Item 37, resolution should read: The Conven­tion accepted the report and expressed its appreciation to the Supreme Officers with a standing ovation for the addi­tional work rendered due to the resignation of Secretary Kecskemethy. The Convention unanimously approved the minutes with the above corrections. Albert Bacsó and Dr. Louis Fury attested to the same as previously ap­pointed by President Beky. 47. President Beky appointed Andrew Kurimai and John Nagy to be attestors to the Minutes of the Third Day’s Session. 48. President Beky announced that the Supreme Coun­cil had ruled on Julius Gaal’s request and had transferred •him from the Administrative to the Financial Committee. 49. Zoltán Szabo’s excuse for his brief absence was accepted. 50. President Beky recessed the Convention at 10:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. tonight. 51. President Beky reopened the Convention at 6:05 p.m. and asked the chairmen of the committees to report on the progress of their work. The Rt. Rev. Abraham spoke for the Administrative Committee announcing that their report was ready for presentation to the Convention. Stephen Syposs, for the Financial Committee, reported that they needed an­other half hour; they planned to meet Thursday morning preceding the plenary session in order to complete their re­port. The Rev. Alexander Marton spoke for the Bethlen Home Committee announcing that their report was ready. President Beky announced that the Convention would meet at 9:30 Thursday morning in order to give the Financial Committee time to complete their report. 52. The Rev. Andrew Harto offered the evening’s pray­ers. 53. After Hymn-singing President Beky recessed the Convention at 6.T5 p.m. until 9:30 a.m., Thursday. President Beky called the Convention to order at 9:45 a.m. 55. The Rev. Gabor Csordás led the Convention in the morning devotions. Plenary Session 56. President Beky opened the Plenary Session of the Fourth Day at 9:50 a.m. 57. Recording Secretary Marsalko read the Roll Call. The Roll Call showed all accredited delegates and guests present. 58. Recording Secretary Dr. Harsanyi read the Minutes of the Session of the Third Day. Joseph Gyenes’ and Emery Bota’s excuses for yesterday’s absences were accepted. The Convention unanimously approved the minutes as read. James Nagy and Andrew Kurimai attested to the same as previously appointed by President Beky. 59. President Beky appointed Imre Bodnar and Imre Bogár to be attestors of the Minutes of the Fourth Day’s Session. 60. László Eszenyi recommended that a wreath foe plac­ed on the Ligonier War Monument in the name of the Fed­eration. Upon permission by President Beky, Eszenyi call­ed on all veterans present who had served in either the American or the Hungarian' armed forces in any of the wars to participate in this ceremony to take place during the noon recess. 61. Upon motion by Vice-president Borshy-Kerekes the Convention voted to pay the recording secre­taries and the accredited members of the Hunga­rian press the same fees and travel expenses as the delegates. 62. The report of the Administrative and Disciplinary Committee was presented by its secretary, Gabor Csordás. Dezső Abraham was the chairman of the Committee. The Committee’s recommendations were as follows (also Exhibit M): 1. On the basis and with reference to paragraph 43 of the By-laws of the Federation, Committee carefully examined the office of the President. After a thorough examination the Committee recommended to the Con­vention to release the President of the Federation from all responsibilities for the past four years. The Convention unanimously accepted this recom­mendation and released the President of the Fed­eration from all his responsibilities for the past four years. 2. With special attention to paragraph 44 of the By­laws otf the Federation, Committee examined the admin­istration of the office of the Secretary, particularly dur­ing the past five months following the resignation of Secretary Kecskemethy, and unanimously recommended the acceptance of the Secretary’s report up to February 1, 1968, and the President’s report for the rest of the term; the Committee also recommended to release the Secretary of the Federation from all responsibilities for the past four years. The Convention unanimously accepted this recom­mendation and released the Secretary of the Fed­eration from all his responsibilities for the past four years. 13
