Dr. Zoltán Béky: INTRODUCING OUR FIELD FORCE During the course of more than three decades, REV. STEPHEN SZŐKE has always been very ac­tive in our Federation. For eight years he was a mem­ber of the Board of Directors and the Board of Managers of our Bethlen Home. He also was the treasurer of the building fund when we built the new home for the aged. Rev. Szőke was born in Szen­tes, Hungary. He received bis education in the Reform­ed Collegium in Debrecen. Then he completed his the­ological training in Eden and Union Theological Semi­naries in the U. S. A. where he received his masters degree. He is the former pastor of the Duquesne Hungarian Reformed Church, former dean of the Western Classis, and former general secretary of the Diocese of The Hungarian Ref. Church in America. At present he is the pastor of the Hungarian Re­formed Church in Miami, Florida and manager of our Branch No. 370. MR. LAJOS TOROK is one of our very able field workers who is associated with Dr. Tibor Köss in San Francisco and vicinity. He was born in Turkeve, Hun­gary where he received his ele­mentary and high school educa­tion and also attended four years of master technician trade school. Mr. Torok and his wife, Eva have one daughter, 19-year-old Judith. He is a member of the Roman Catholic Church in Saratoga where he resides. Hunting and fishing are his hobbies. Szabolcs County, Buj, where she also went to school, is the birth­place of MRS. STEPHEN BAKO of Cuddy, Pa. Mr. Bako had been a member of our Federa­tion for 41 years before his death, after which Mrs. Bako took over the managership of Branch No. 328 and has been working faithfully in this capac­ity for 22 years. She has two daughters, a son, six grandchil­dren and one great-granddaughter. Mrs. Bako is affiliat­ed with the Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh, Pa., where she is an active member. Y MRS. PIROSKA TOTH is man­ager of Branch No. 226 in Phil­adelphia, Pa. She was born in Maklar, Hun­gary. After completing her ele­mentary education, she attended the “Leány Gymnasium” in Hun­gary. Mrs. Toth and her husband S have seven children: Katalin, Eva, Bela, Maria, Győző, László and Enikő. After World War II they emigrated to the United States and settled in Philadelphia, Pa., where Mrs. Toth is very active in social and religious work. She is a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church and the Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Ladies Aid So­ciety. GRADUATED WITH HONOR We are glad to report that James John Kovács, son of our faithful branch man­ager Mrs. Rose Kovács, has recently graduated with honor and won a full scholarship to the Slippery Rock State Teachers College. He was a member of the National Honor Society in recogni­tion of his high academic standing. He became Senior Class President, a clear indication that his fellow-students con­sidered him an excellent civic leader. He was also a member of the Cham­pions Club, Senior Class Play, Human Relations Club and the Student Council. He worked on the staff of the local school paper, the “Gladstonian.” As an excellent sportsman, he played on the senior baseball and basketball team. Good luck, Jimmy! We are sure that our country will gain an outstanding ed­ucator and an exemplary civic leader in you.
