serum cholesterol, and blood sugar tests, an electrocardiogram and chest X-ray, which should be carefully filed with his medical records for future reference say 25 years later. I would like to end with an optimistic note directed to two groups of people. First, to those already afflicted with heart disease, especially of a coronary type: in a long follow-up study that we are about to publish, we have found that many patients improve with the years and can actually outgrow their troubles even including angina pectoris (chest pain), if they cooperate with nature. Second, to those who are young or middle-aged, without any heart trouble: we can, I believe, with reasonable assurance promise them good health in the future without the liklihood of heart attacks or angina pectoris, if they follow the major recommendations outlined above with respect to diet, exercise and smoking. As for stress, let me cite a definition which I heard at a meeting in San Francisco two years ago: “Stress is life and you had better enjoy it.” To take advantage of this advice, one should as early in life as possible, develop an optimistic philosophy, which could be in harmony with Robert Browning’s verse: ‘Grow old along with me; The best is yet to be.’ ” STATEMENT OF INCOME, DISBURSEMENTS AND ASSETS FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL, 1967 INCOME Life Insurance Fund .................. ... $ U.S.A. 152,107.99 Canada $ 4.289.53 Sick Benefit Fund ................... 883.32 34.33 Hospitalization Fund ................. 3,383.15 22.91 Overremittances ......................... 490.73 8.92 Bethlen Home Dues Collected ... 1,715.20 15.30 Investments Repaid ................... 55.957.55 340.72 Rent Income ............................. 280.00---.--Credit from Home Office .......... 99.475.00 Total ....$ 214,817.94 $104.186.71 Balance from March, 1967 ........ 244.504.83 15.999.12 Total Income April 30. 1967 ....$ 459.322.77 $120.185.83 DISBURSEMENTS Life Insurance Fund .................. ....$ 133.434.89 $ 2.054.61 Sick Benefit Fund ..................... 862.20---.--Hospitalization Fund 2.306.00 290.00 Shortages .................................... 289.60 —.— Bethlen Home Dues Paid .......... 2,513.30---.--Trust Fund Paid ...................... 4,116.82---.--' New Investments ............................ 174,120.22 Investment Expenses ....................... 1,182.00 Real Estate Expenses ..................... 819.46 Deposit in Canada 92,000.00 Certificate Loan Interest returned 15.75 100,000.00 Total Disbursements April 30,1967 $ 411.660.24 $102.344.61 Total Income ..........
