FRATERNITY 3 also discussed. During the conversation, Mr. Rusk expressed the astonishing fact that of the ten most noted scientists and mathematicians in the United States, eight are Hungarians! As the evening progressed and the historical significance of some of the beautiful furnishings and china in the State Drawing and Dining Rooms were pointed out by him, Mr. Rusk once again recognized Hungarians by observing that the paintings of George and Martha Washington, hanging in the John Quincy Adams State Drawing Room, painted by Rembrandt Peale (American, 1778-1860), were donated by Hungarians: Mr. and Mrs. Miklós Sperling of Indianapolis, Indiana. STORMING THE AMERICAN LEGATION The blundering anti-American demonstration staged at the American Legation in Budapest has already been reported at length and in various accounts by our American and Hungarian newspapers. Fortunately, many of the numerous accounts noted that the rioters were predominantly immature African, Cuban and Asian students now receiving their education in Budapest. Those Hungarians who, unfortunately, were among the demonstrators, were either threatened into participating or lured to such action with “Judas money”. In other words, the participants were nothing more than intimidated, shameless, selfish vandals. In fact, we do not believe that in the present state of affairs there would be even one self-respecting, intelligent Hungarian who of his own volition would deliberately disgrace himself in such manner. Really now, was anything gained by it? SINCERE THANKS The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America Gentlemen: I wish to thank you very much for your prompt attention in paying the death benefit on my dear husband, who passed away December 23, 1964. By doing so, you helped me a great deal in taking care of my most urgent debts. For myself and family — thank you. Sincerely, 1923 W. 77th St., Cleveland, O. Mrs. Rose Mayors
