FRATERNITY 7 an action drama from the struggle of the conscience, Satan achieved his purpose: The message has been stolen, and lulled the dreamer’s guilt and responsibility. If faith and unbelief take turns in the heart, the dream would clearly manifest it. “I was in an Italian-style village. I met a middle- aged man who now resembled my father, now my bride’s father. And there was a girl who resembled my former bride. Now she was a blonde, now she was a brunette.” God warned man that we cannot serve two lords. “No man can serve two masters ... Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24.) The middle-aged man alternately personifies the Word and Satan’s inspiration, and the girl symbolizes the Church and Satan’s community. The man is vacillating between faith and unbelief, consequently his heart is filled with unrest and tension. He would like to walk with God, and at the same time belong to the world. God’s warning becomes, under Satan’s brush, an Italian-style landscape with old acquaintances in the background. The dreams of the believers are characteristic. “I was at an unknown place with a lot of other people together. We were all men. And everybody was naked. We were shaving. I felt ill at ease. The barber asked me: Does it disgust you? Men, between themselves, don’t feel shame.” — The dream symbolizes the community of God’s children. The nudity signifies that before God we stand with undisguised heart. The embarrassment of the man indicates a warning: He still has undisclosed secrets to be ashamed of. The barber symbolizes God’s Word. The hairs refer to the sins of the “old man”. God’s children need not be reluctant to be in each other’s company, because they all are purified by Jesus’ blood. The message the man received: “All things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him whom we have to do.” (Hebr. 1:13.) Satan, characteristically following his method, conjured up an old experience in the concentration camp to cover up God’s warning and reminding Word. We have to make it clear that under the influence of heat, cold, scents or hypnosis, only the story changes, but not the heavenly message. It is the sovereign right of God to select the message, and man cannot influence His choice. . With this we ascertain the fact that it is immaterial whether we dream in color or black-and-white, with full stomach or when starving, after a day’s work, dead-tired, or after a wild night of social activities, or even with sleeping pills. We may go even a step further. It is also irrelevant whether we dream of past, present or future events. It is true that parapsychology files premonitory dream evidences of train wrecks, plane crashes, fires and other catastrophes. However, the man of Word is inclined to seriously consider any instances of precognition, extrasensory perception of the future. Why? One of the most effective and most fearful acts of Satan exactly of his making our dreams come true. It is very suspicious if somebody dreams actual events in advance.
