FRATERNITY 17 THE CONVENTION UNANIMOUSLY ACCEPTED THIS ELEC­TION PROCEDURE. THE CONVENTION ALSO ESTABLISHED THE NUMBER OF DIRECTORS: NEW YORK DISTRICT, 1; NEW JERSEY DISTRICT, 2; PENNSYLVANIA DISTRICT, 2; OHIO DISTRICT, 2; MICHIGAN DISTRICT 1; CHICAGO, 1. 82. The President recessed the Convention at 4:25 P. M. until further notice. 83. The President reconvened the Convention at 5:28 P. M. and yielded the chair to the Temporary Chairman, Rev. Stephen Szőke. 84. The Temporary Chairman appealed for calmness and order during the elections and asked for the report of the Nominating Committee. Dr. Tibor Csikesz was chairman; Rev. Parragh was the secretary of this committee. 85. Rev. Parragh presented the Committee’s first recommendation in regard to procedure according to which anyone defeated in the election for a higher office cannot be nominated for a lower office. Rev. Tóth introduced a motion contrary to this recommendation. The chair ap­pointed Mrs. Cseh, Mr. Gyenes, Mr. Dolinszky and Mr. Melegh as tellers. THE CONVENTION IN SECRET BALLOT DEFEATED THE COMMITTEE’S ORIGINAL RECOMMENDATION BY 39 TO 31 VOTES. 86. The committee’s second recommendation in regard to procedure was to put first the names of incumbents on the black board, then the rest of the candidates in alphabetical order. THE CONVENTION UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED THIS RECOM­MENDATION. 87. The following were nominated for the office of President: Rt. Rev. George E. K. Borshy, Rt. Rev. Zoltán Béky, Rev. Árpád Beretz, Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Szabó. OUT OF 71 VOTES CAST, RT. REV. BORSHY RECEIVED 15, RT. REV. BÉKY 35, REV. ÁRPÁD BERETZ NONE, RT. REV. DR. SZABÓ 21. Since there was no absolute majority on this first ballot, a second ballot was ordered between Rt. Rev. Béky and Rt. Rev. Szabó. The result was as follows: RT. REV. BÉKY 39, RT. REV. SZABÓ 30. (ONE BALLOT WAS INVALID, ONE BLANK.) THE RT. REV. ZOLTÁN BÉKY WAS DECLARED ELECTED PRESIDENT. 88. President-elect Béky thanked the Convention for the trust placed in him and solemnly promised to dedicate himself to the service of the Federation. 89. President Borshy spoke of his 32 years of service to the Federation. He thanked those who cast their votes in his favor. THE CONVENTION GAVE PRESIDENT BORSHY A STANDING OVATION. 90. The Rev. Joseph Kecskeméthy and the Rev. Stephen Sziártó were presented as candidates for the office of Secretary. The result of voting by a secret ballot was as follows:
