FRATERNITY 7 and after the noon signals were given, out poured the chimes ... at first softly, then loud and clear . . . “Isten Áldd Meg a Magyart!” Our hearts skipped a few beats . . . and then came “Kossuth Lajos Azt Üzente”, and after that “Piros Hajnal, Fehér Álom, Zöld Remény”, followed by other beloved songs of our Hungarian people. I heard one man say, “Oh, that’s the Hungarian Anthem! Listen!” Yes, I listened, and was deeply stirred. So were my friends in the park and those in our twelfth floor offices. And who knows how many others, who just happened to be around Dupont Circle and heard the program, may have dropped a few tears, too ... in memoriam . . .
