FIOK Our Legal Counsellor Elected Common Pleas Court Judge in Pennsylvania In the last issue of our “Fraternity” we were pleased to report the glad news that Governor William W. Scranton appointed our Legal Counsellor, Mr. Albert A. Fiok, to judgeship in the Common Pleas Court of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. This appointment was sealed for a ten-year term by the voters of Allegheny County in the November 5th elections. The Governor’s appointment of Mr. Fiok to a position of high distinction, and the citizens’ expression of confidence in him at the polls is not only an honor to him and his family, but is a great honor to all of us in our Federation as well. As we express our joy and sincere congratulations and wish Judge Fiok much success in his new responsibilities, we are proud to present him to our readers as he was presented for his commission to the President Judge of the Common Pleas Court by Justice Henry X. O’Brien: “May it please Your Honor, I have the pleasure to present to you Mr. Albert A. Fiok, who has been selected by the Governor of this Commonwealth to take his place with this distinguished body. We know that the Common Pleas Court of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is the very bedrock of the judicial system of this Commonwealth. The requisites of a Common Pleas judge are the highest qualifications that a person could have in the judiciary. “Mr. Fiok comes to you admirably qualified to take his place with you at this crucial time when a Herculean effort is being made by Your Honors to cope with an almost impossible situation and condition. “He is fifty years of age. He was five years in the service of the United States. He was a major and for over two years in the European theatre. He is a graduate of Fifth Avenue High School, the University of Pittsburgh School of Education, and of its law school. He has been in practice for 22 years and during that time he has handled all sorts of litigation. “He has been an Assistant District Attorney for four years, and he has been a law secretary of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania for four years, and, more recently, a law secretary of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. “He has a great record for judicial work in the various courts, and a distinguished war record. The French Army awarded him the croix de guerre. He has the bronze star, and a list of his accomplish­ments in the army would take a long time to recount to Your Honors. “But his qualifications here, and the qualifications that he brings
