MKLOSSY, Treasurer PROBLEMS Quuestion: I am 52 years old and have worked under Social Security from 1937 to the middle of 1947, from the middle of 1949 through 1952, and from the middle of 1954 through 1958. I returned to work in 1959 and stopped work in January of this year. If I don’t work any more, do I have enough time in to make me eligible for retirement benefits? Answer: Yes, you have over 10 years or 40 QC, so you are permanently insured. Question: My son died six months ago. A month ago I applied for benefits as his dependent parent. I am 74 years old. Would I be entitled for benefits from the date of his death or from the date of my application? Answer: Benefits would be payable back to the month of his death.
