FRATERNITY 9 of Criminal and International Law until 1950. He then continued with further studies at the International Labor Organization, also in Geneva, when in July of 1952 he accepted another fellowship for courses in Strassbourg, France. His further schooling here was, however, abruptly terminated, because he received a special immigration visa to the United States to join his brother, the Reverend Dr. William Bonis, in Austin, Texas. Upon arriving in this country, Mr. Bonis immediately began his earnest study of the English language and entered the Law School of the University of Texas, graduating with the degree of Master of Law in May of 1958. In the meantime Mr. Bonis worked as an insurance salesman for a large company, receiving several citations for having successfully passed several insurance courses and for his superb salesmanship. He also worked part-time for the State Board of Insurance in Austin. In 1959 Mr. Bonis came to Washington, D. C., and was first employed with the Library of Congress and then the Legal Division of the Department of Labor. It was in the fall of 1959 that Mr. Bonis joined our Federation as District Manager-at-Large for our Southern and AVestern territories. Mr. Bonis worked with great perseverance and diligence to attain his goal, and we join his many friends and colleagues and especially the Honorable J. Millard Tawes, Governor of Maryland, in his congratulatory message which reads: Dear Mr. Bonis, I am so pleased to learn that you recently passed the State Law Examination to be admitted to the Maryland Bar, enabling you to practice law in Maryland. Please accept my sincere congratulations. You have chosen a fine profession and I wish you much success in the future. With kindest regards and best wishes, I am Sincerely, J. Millard Tawes, Governor ★ ★ ★ Our very best wishes to Mr. Joseph A. Bonis, and whatever his plans or his future relationship may be with our Federation, we wish him well for a successful career.
