Szabó was ordained in 1886, and at once began a great series of evangelistic meetings in Budapest city. Then in the same year another significant event occurred. The Scottish evangelist, Dr. Alexander Somerville, who had just returned from a round-the-world evangelistic tour, visited Hungary in 1887-88 at the invitation of the Scottish Mission. Unprecedented numbers crowded the churches to hear him. In the cities of the Plain he would get audiences of 8,000 to

10,000 people in an evening. His visit to Hungary was a great stimulus to the now rapidly growing movement in evangelism. Ministers began to hold Bible classes, to study and teach the Catechism, and to hold their own evangelistic campaigns in their parish areas.
