FRATERNITY 5 fications and six years of exceptional work in the secretarial office. Of the former staff of officers only our treasurer, Imre Király, who has been serving since 1932 and deserves a great deal of credit, remained in his original office. It would not be worthwhile to keep quiet the fact that the personnel changes effected both in the staff of officials and the Supreme Council — however well considered and reflecting on accomplishments — did not satisfy the requirements or expectations of all fractions of our Reformed public life. As a result, our new staff of officers and mainly our secretary, who directs the organizing, in several areas lacked the cooperation that — not because of their person, but in the interest of the Federation — we should have expected. Acknowledging this symptom, but not getting discouraged by it, our staff of officers set to their duties with even more enthusiasm and on April 1, 1957, took over their offices without any disruption and carried on the work according to their obligation. They thank God that, in spite of the ensuing economic recession (1958) and the following steel strike (1959), which was unprecedented in length, they can give an account of constant developments, the proportions of which will be shown in the reports of our respective officers. PERSONNEL CHANGES There was a personnel change in the newly set-up Supreme Council at its first regular meeting because in September of 1956 the newly elected Superintendent of the Bethlen Home, the Reverend Sándor Daroczy, resigned from his office in the Council. In his place the Supreme Council elected Geza Veszpremy, who in turn was succeeded as an alternate member by the Reverend Árpád György from the Chicago district. Presently they both serve in these offices with great enthusiasm. There were also some personnel changes in our office force. Our Supreme Officers filled the vacancies, always with the sanction of the Supreme Council. The following individuals are serving in our home office at this time, in the order of the date of their employment: Balint Boldogh, Erzsébet Balazs, Dr. Gabor Ujfalussy, Dezső Garanyi, Dr. Antal Postenyi, Bela Toth, Tibor Baksy, Anna Korocz, Dr. Janos Csorba, Vilma Csorba, Dr. Zoltán Korossy and László Stephan. Naturally, there were changes in the district managers also during the past three years. In the interest of more effective procurement and retention of members, our secretary promoted two older district managers to supervisors and replaced them with new ones and also created some new jobs in connection with the establishment of our new section offices. The local arrangements, present number and other data are contained in the report of the secretary. We mourned the untimely death of one of our faithful co-workers, the Reverend Arpad Bernath, in 1958. OBLIGATIONS The jurisdiction and duties of the head of the presidential office are prescribed in the 32nd and 36th chapters of our By-Laws. Always
