FRATERNITY 3 Robert also files on October 5, 1958, at which time he is age 65. He has 11 quarters of coverage and, under the regular rule, requires 15 quarters. Robert did no work covered under Social Security until January of 1956. By applying the special rule of all but four quarters since 1954, he would qualify for benefits and could receive payments beginning in October, 1958. WHEN IS A QUARTER COVERED? Remember, you receive a quarter of coverage for each calendar quarter in which you are paid wages of $50 or more. The self-employed worker is credited with four quarters in any year in which his net earnings amount to $400 or more. Farm workers receive a quarter of coverage for each $100 in cash wages covered by the law. You can earn quarters by salaried employment at any time after 1936 and self-employment beginning January 1, 1951. It has been said that the Social Security Act is the most comprehensive document in or out of Government. A force of trained personnel study the Act and its Amendments, and stand ready to help with individual problems. Call at your Social Security Office — If a worker in your family dies. When you reach retirement age. If you become disabled before 65. THANKS Dear Mr. President: Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your kind sympathy. Thanks also for the check. God bless every member of your organization who helps to ease the pain and hardship of their fellowmen. Lackawanna, N. Y. Most sincerely yours, Mrs. Charles Miller
