FRATERNITY 5 The village was incorporated about 1871. The Methodist church was burned in 1863 during the war between the states, but was rebuilt soon after, and the same building is still standing today. In 1892 the town had a high school and a hotel. In 1910 Alcorn Agricultural High School was established. Boys and girls from all over the county are transported to school here; 52 students were graduated here in May, 1958. The town is located on State Highway No. 2, eight miles southwest of Corinth, Mississippi, in Alcorn County, and has a population of 300. Kossuth, Miss., has a major, a marshal and a board of aldermen, two churches, five general stores, three service stations, one garage, one cafe, one cotton gin and post office; also a blacksmith shop, two resident preachers and a doctor.
