FRATERNITY 9 Árpád: Hunyadi: Attila: Attila (continues): Kovats: Our beloved Hungary, our homeland is in danger. A strong armed enemy has overpowered and occupied the 1000-year-old country. What shall we do to help the oppressed kin now? Our eternal fight must go on, that is our fate. We will return to Earth and fight for the liberation of our brethren . . . for the Magyars . . . (In a loud and commanding voice.) Colonel-Commandant Michael de Kovats, return whence you came from. As the avant-garde of the fighting ancestors of the Magyars report before Columbia and prepare her for our visit. The shadows will be behind you, if you walk toward the light. I see in America the light of Liberty is high and in my heart still burns that immortal fire. And when immortal fire burns away all fear, hate, bitterness and pain, the night will pass and with my beloved Magyars a bright dawn will lead the way. I shall live again. (Kovats leaves — the others prepare to follow him.) (END OF ACT TWO) THIRD ACT PLACE: SAME AS ACT I Columbia, Kovats, and a little later, all from the Milky Way Columbia: . . .“COLUMBIA . . . NON . . . IMMEMORE”. . . “America won’t forget!” Through the ages of history all is evanescent: names and figures will be forgotten, but only those memories and fames will blazon like flames in a darkened night and will remain with us, whose fair deeds for the Patria and for Liberty strengthens faith in humanity. History expends all, but brave soldiers never die. Their heroic deeds will linger as immortal legends in the memory of their compatriots. Here, for example, Colonel-Commandant Michael Kovats died in action at Charleston, S. C., 175 years ago. The belief that he died is a misconception. His spirit did not die, because he was a hero who fought for the liberty of America. He only faded cut from the annals of time — temporarily — and did not sink in the sea of «blivion. Here he is, or maybe his apparition emerges after so many years. He has a message for us.
