18 TESTVÉRISÉG When the end of World War I came, it found Russia’s war aims fully realized — Slavdom firmly entrenched in Europe’s heart, and every single aim America and the West had been fighting for, completely nullified. We entered the war “to make the world safe for democracy”, and came out of it with nothing but our casualties and our war debt. The final accounting of World War II discloses exactly the same net result. We lost the war and, in addition, suffered one million 143,873 war casualties, and had burdened ourselves with a war debt of 269 and a half billion dollars. Russia, on the other hand, again came off with flying colors, and well on her way to realize the final aim she had set before herself — the complete domination of the whole world. The final outcome of World War II was decided at the moment when, in deference to Red Russia’s demand, the two western leaders, Mr. Roosevelt and Mr. Winston Churchill, altered their stand on the question of the invasion of Europe. Both held originally to the view that the invasion should be carried out from the Balkans, the “soft under-belly of the continent.” At the expense of considerable wire pulling, Mr. Molotov succeeded in thwarting the plan of the western leaders and, as a consequence, the doom of the West was again sealed. Came the Iron Curtain and the unspeakable horrors following in its wake. 9 10 11> The loss of World War II cannot be told in such simple terms. As long as the deliberately fraudulent signing of a piece of paper by a handful of Czeh and Slovak individuals in Pittsburgh can be hailed as one of “the most glorious moment in European history”, the people of these United States will be condemned to a hopeless state of utter ignorance in the matters most vitally affecting their life and their very existence. As immortal Kossuth would say: Republics are not founded on fraud! (8) Notwithstanding the solemn declaration of President Wilson and the no less solemn declaration of British Premier Lloyd George, when World War I came to its end, the Austro- Hungarian monarchy was completely put out of existence, and Hungary, the Hungary of Lajos Kossuth, the staunchest defender of western civilization through a period of almost a thousand years, was placed on the operating table and dissected to an extent to make her survival well nigh impossible. How did all this happen? It came about mainly by virtue of two facts — namely, (1) corrupt French statesmanship, and (2) Czeh propaganda carried on under the leadership of Thomas G. Masaryk. (9) The report of a Russian diplomatic representative in Paris, as it is disclosed in Professor Harry Elmer Barnes work on “The Genesis of the World War”, contains the following data on bribery payments to French newspapers for the month of November 1913, on behalf of Russia: Le Radical (Perchot’s paper) second instalment ............................... 120.000 francs La Lanlerne (Millerand’s paper) ...... 35.000 francs Le Figaro .................................................... 25.000 francs Le Temps .................................................... 50.000 francs La Libre Parole ......................................... 80.000 francs L'Aurore (Clemenceau’s paper) second instalment ............................. 45.000 francs La Gaulois ..... 25.000 francs' La Liberte ................................................. 30.000 francs French Premier Poincare and French publicist Tardieu personally supervised the handing out of the bribery payments, and Professor Harry Elmer Barnes concludes that: “The joint campaign of bribery and publicity was wholly successful in ‘Balkanizing’ the Franco-Rus- sian Alliance, and arousing a most active and solicitous French in*erest in Balkan problems, towards which they had been indifferent before.” 10) Quoting from a French book entitled “Behind the Scenes in French Journalism”, Professor Barnes gives some samples describing the organization of propaganda in France during the World War: “If you reduce the lie to a scientific system, put it on thick and heavy, and with great effort and sufficient finances — scatter it over the world as pure truth, — you can deceive whole nations for a long time, and drive them to slaughter for causes in which they have not the slightest interest.” n) If we add to this sordid story of diplomatic banditry the fact that these totally corrupt French statesmen, receiving regular bribery payments from Russia, held a commanding position at the peace conference negotiating the peace treaties of World War I, we shall clearly see why that war ended in complete victory for Russia and complete defeat for the rest of the world. The fate of Hungary, the most innocent among the warring nations, was sealed at the moment in which the peace conference convened., Had Jesus of Nazareth fallen into the evil hands of Trianon’s bloodhounds, the sentence given to him would not have been different from the one meted out to Hungary. (10) A mere recounting of the statistical data on the dismemberment of thousand year old Hungary fills one with hopeless dismay. Hungary was reduced to less than one-third (32.6 percent) of her pre-war area and a little over two-fifths (41.6 percent) of her population. Territories and peoples formerly Hungarian were distributed among no less than seven states. The country’s losses amounted in exact numbers to 10,781,773 inhabitants and 191,735 square 9) A resumé of the pertinent facts is given in the volume authored by John F. Montgomery, former U. S. Minister to Budapest bearing the title Hungary, The Unwilling Satellite. Devin-Adair Co., New York, 1947, pp. 216, 217. 10) Harry Elmer Barnes, The Genesis of the World War, New York, 1927, Alfred A.
