TESTVÉRISÉG 7 HUNGARIANS ADD $10,000 TO WAR FUND Check Presented at Flag Dedication Ceremony — Toledo Times, Nov. 30, 1942 — A check for the purchase of $10,000 in War Savings bonds was presented to the Treasury department by Stephen Molnár, Hungarian leader, at a meeting of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America at a dinner meeting attended by more than 250 in the Magyar Reformed Church. Mr. Molnár said the check brought the purchases of the federation to $213,000. It was received by Elbert Hingst, secretary of the district War Bond committee. Members of the society were paying tribute to the 80 members of the federation now serving in the American armed forces. The meeting was the last of a series of flag presentations which have been the theme of the federation’s program this year. The 32nd flag was presented yesterday morning. Ramey Dedicates Flag Congressman-elect Homer A. Ramey dedicated the flag at the morning service. He paid tribute to the sturdiness of the Hungarian Americans and praised their contribution to inevitable victory. After the dinner in the parish house, Harold H. Hartley, managing editor of The Toledo Times, said the Hungarian strain had added much to the strength of the American fighting forces and said that already many Hungarian names were high on the rapidly growing list of American heroes. He reminded them that no Hungarian had ever been a traitor. He urged them to meet coming trials with the typical strength of spirit which has characterized the Hungarian people since its Christianization under Stephen I.. . Mayor Roulet Speaks Mayor Lloyd Roulet spoke for the city and said the fine traits of the Hungarian people were giving the community a cultural balance. He predicted the Hungarians would be found in many places of leadership during the war. Dr. Francis Újlaki, president of the society and pastor of the church, presided and introduced notable guests. The United Hungarian Churches and Societies of Toledo were represented by Dr. Géza Farkas, Julius Bertok, Paul Bacsó, Stephen Horvath and Dr. Andrew Winter.
