10 TESTVÉRISÉG elég a bosszúvágy, melly hazánk hóhérjai ellen a nemzet kebelében lángol. Nekem készület kell és rendezett erő, mellyre biztosan számíthassak. Kormányzói tisztemben az erőszak ideiglenesen akadályoztatott: de a forrásnak törvényszerűségét, mellyből ezen tisztet merítém, meg nem gyengítheté. Én folytatom tisztemet ’s folytatni fogom addig, mig a Hazát megszabadítva a Nemzetet azon karba nem tudom, hogy jövendője felett Ön maga szabadon intézkedhessen. Ekkor legnagyobb dicsőségemnek tartandom — ha a harczok Istene életemet megtartja — egyszerű szabad polgár gyanánt vissza lépni a nép sorába. Addig a Haza boldogsága egységet kíván a kormányzásban; ’s én a kormányhatalmat, mellyet a nemzettől vettem: — az idők nehézségéhez képest — mint Dictator fogom gyakorolni. Figyelmet, engedelmességet kívánok, engedetlenséget tűrni nem fogok. Aki velünk nincs, az ellenünk van; én semlegességet, részvétlenséget tűrni nem fogok. Megtanultam a múltból a siker feltételeit. Én nem fogom megengedni, hogy személyes hiúság, vagy vétkes nagyravágyás, pártokra szaggassa a Nemzetet, ’s megszaggatva martalékul dobja mégegyszer a Zsarnokoknak s hóhérjainak. Aki pártoskodik, ’s a nemzet áldozatainak alapján akarja nagyravágyását felemelni, tiporjon el ha tud, vagy legyen elkészülve, hogy a Nemzet Közakaratából reám ruházott hatalommal én fogom őt eltiporni kérlelhetetlenül. Érdem ’s hazafiasság jutalom nélkül: bűn és pártoskodás büntetés nélkül nem marad. Hazafiak! felállítottam a láthatatlan kormány eszközeit. Én rendelni fogok; ezen eszközök vég- rehajtandják a mit rendelek; a nemzet pedig engedelmeskedni fog a Kormánynak, mellyet maga választott; ’s nem az Orosz czár ’s Görgey árulása tolt reá. Engedelmességével saját akaratját tisztelendi meg. így, de csakis igy győzni fogunk: ’s a megszabadított világ ’s boldog utódaink dicsőitendik emlékünket az idők végeiglen. Legyetek meggyőződve, hogy akár hová megyek, mindig azért megyek, hogy Hazámnak használjak ’s mindig oda megyek, a hol legtöbbet használhatok. I need real preparation and coordinated power on which I can rely with certainty. I was prevented temporarily by force from the execution of my gubernatorial powers, but the legality of the source from which this office has its origin can not be weakened. : I will continue to exercise the rights of my office until I am definitely convinced that the nation is in the position to determine her future herself. Then — if God of the battles spares my life — I will consider it to be my greatest glory to return to the ranks of the people as a plain, free citizen. Until then, unity in the government is imperative to the well-being of the country — and considering the troubled times — I shall exercise, as a dictator, the governing powers conferred upon me by the nation. I wish to have attentiveness and obedience; I will not tolerate any disobedience. Whoever is not with us, he is against us. I will not tolerate neutrality or disinterestedness. I learned in the past to know the prerequisites of success. I will not permit personal vanity or sinful ambitions to tear the nation apart and torn apart to throw it again as a prey to the tyrant and his tormentors. Be convinced that wherever I go, I always go for the purpose of working for the benefit of my country, and I always go to the place wehere I can be the most useful.
