TÁROGATÓ 15 him, and he with me.” This came to me like a flash from heaven. I went home knelt down and said, “Lord, if thou art waiting for me, I lift the latch—come in and welcome.” ’ “ ‘My two daughters who had been seeking salvation for a long time and were expecting it would come to them somehow, were in the meeting with me and heard you say, “The latch is on your side of the door.” Without speaking a word to me they each went to their room that evening and opened their hearts to Christ. Lifting the latch and letting Christ come in to our hearts has changed our home. I longed to tell you this. God bless you.’ ” THE WORLD TITLE Christ has no hands but our hands To do his work today; He has no feet but our feet, To lead men in his way; He has no tongues but our tongues, To tell men how he died; He has no help but our help, To bring them to his side. We are the only Bible The earless world will read; We are the sinner’s gospel, We are the scoffer’s creed; We are the Lord’s last message, Given in deed and word; What if the type is crooked? What if the print is blurred? What if our hands are busy With other work than his? What if our feet are walking Where sin’s allurement is? What if our tongues are speaking Of things his lips would spurn? How can we hope to help him And hasten his return? —By Annie Johnson Flint “I NO WORK FOR HEATHEN!” A Chinese applied for the position of a cook in the house of a family, so I read in one of my books, who were members of a fashionable church. Said the lady to the applicant, “Do you drink whisky?” He answered, “No, I am a Clistian man”. “Do you play cards?” “No, I am a Clistian man.” He was employed and gave great satisfaction. Some weeks after the woman gave a euchre party and wine was served. The Chinese served the guests without comment, but the next morning he said that he was leaving. “Why, what’s the matter?” his employer asked. He replied, “I Clistian man. I tell you so. I no heathen. I no work for heathen.” OFF NORMANDY BEACHES The time of the attack by the Allies on Europe was drowing near. An assault vessel was standing off the Normandy beaches awaiting the fateful hour. The chaplain asked the men if they would like to sing a hymn. They answered yes, that they would like to sing, “How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds.” They sang that glorious hymn. For many of them it would be the last time before they saw Jesus face to face. I.L.O. STUDIES FEECHARGING JOB AGENCIES* The 32nd Conference of the International Labour Organization which opened in Geneva recently will consider the revision of the 1933 Convention which sought to abolish fee-charging employment agencies conducted with a view to profit and to regulate the operation of those not conducted for profit. The proposed revisions would make it optional whether ratifying countries abolish agencies conducted with a view to profit or provide standards for regulating them.
