DECEMBER, 1947. (Ebristntaa The calendar tells us that the time is drawing near when north, south, east and west, Christmas trees will burst into bloom with gifts and glitter. For a short season they will brighten our homes and then they will be stripped and forgotten. It is a good thing that once a year the Christian world opens its heart to the joy of Christmas and wishes to share with others all the joy and beauty of the season. The holiday spirit of generosity blossoms like the Christmas tree and like it, is often laid away after the festive season and forgotten for another year. We need to nurture the seed of Christmas generosity until it grows and flourishes, not like the transplanted tree which blooms for such a short season, but like the living green tree of the forest putting down sturdy roots to nourish the branches of kindness and understanding.
