FEBRUARY, 1947 “So let your light shine before men.” There is an old legend which tells of two torches which were sent out on a long journey. One of the torches was unlighted and the other burned briskly. The two finally returned to make their reports of that which they had seen. The first torch said that all the world was in darkness, and that the general situation was so bad as to be practically hopeless. The second reported that everywhere he went he had found light; and that the general situation as he saw it was such as to give reason for real hope. In our world of today one could easily look on the dark side only and see th!e utter hopelessness which seems to prevail, but there is a bright side and we realize that though injustice exists, justice and mercy are not abolished. The God of all flesh never grows weary in showing mercy to the children of men. No matter what the future may hold, one thing is sure — the mercy of our God shall never pass away.
