NOVEMBER, 1945 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. —Rom. 12:2. We are sometimes told that “y°u can’t change human nature.” But the most significant fact about human nature is its capacity to change its own character and to transform its environment after the pattern of an ideal. The /pioneers did not find in the raw wilderness a hospitable environment. But they brought with them a dream of homes, well-tilled fields, and a larger liberty than they had known in the old world. With these ideals to • guide them, they set their hands to build a new commonwealth. The Gospel summons every man to set the character and spirit of Jesus before him with a purpose to “be transformed in nature.” Unce having known the kind of person Jesus was and what He meant the Kingdom of God to be, we can never again be satisfied with the kind of men and women we have been or with the world that we have known.
