FEBRUARY, 1944 God’s Candles “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven Long ago in some primitive communities, where privations were not unknown, the churches were lighted not even by oil lamps but by candles, and it was an unwritten law that each family which came to the Church should bring at least one candle. Thus the church was lighted and each one had done his part. If some of our churches were lighted by candles today there would be many dark spots. It is only by each individual cooperating, that any church can let its “light so shine” that men may see its glow against the dark sky, and know that Christianity is a one-hundred candle power unit in the community. □ BOARD OF HOME MISSIONS, The United Church of Canada Wesley Build inns, 299 Queen Street West, Toronto 2, Ont.
