The Church

It is not my purpose to condemn the Church, or to defend her, but to offer a word of personal testimony. For I believe that even at her worst and weakest, the Church of Jesus Christ is still the most important and most beneficent institution in the whole world. In that respect I agree with Bernard Shaw, who said: “If we were to destroy the Church today we should have to build it up again tomorrow.”
