July-August, 1940 Summer Days One of the joys of summer is camping out. Do we remember to be thankful for the joys of the outdoors. Among the greatest joys of camping is the camp fire. Let us remember to make a ceremony of lighting the fire: (quote) “Kneel always when you light a fire? Kneel reverently and thankful be For God’s unfailing charity; And on the ascending flame inspire A little prayer, that shall upbear The incense of your thankfulness For this sweet grace Of warmth and light! For here again is sacrifice, For our delight. Kneel always when you light a fire! Kneel reverently and grateful be, For God’s unfailing charity.” We so often forget to be thankful for simple things.
