one of the best innovative masters of ceramics in the Őrség. Rózsa Kercsmár, teacher, writer and journalist lived for some time at Domonkosfa and taught at the school there. She was a committed do-all for the culture of Hungarians living in Slovenia. She was born at Alsólakos in 1936, studied at the Lendva grammar school and graduated from the Teachers’ College at Szabadka. She taught at Domonkosfa from 1955 till 1973 where her husband Géza Kercsmár was the school master. The teacher couple actively participated in organising the cultural life of the village. Rózsa Kercsmár continued her career as a journalist from 1973, but the people of the Őrség always had a special place in her heart. Her village monograph “The Chronicle of Domonkosfa” was published in 1993. Ella Pivar Tomšič was also a teacher at Domonkosfa from 1970 till 1973. Born at Kót, she has become known and respected by the Hungarian minority in Slovenia as a journalist, editor of radio and television programmes and researcher of local history. In the course of her work she has paid special attention to the history and ethnography of the villages of the Őrség as well as the Protestant churches operating there. As she has said several times, her years spent at Domonkosfa played a significant part in her growing to love the Őrség and its people. Wooden casket. Local collection in Domonkosfa.
