Egynyelvű beszélők vélekedései és hiedelmei a kétnyelvűségről MNENJA IN DOMNEVE ENOJEZIČNIH GOVORCEV O DVOJEZIČNOSTI Namen študije je na podlagi rezultatov empiričnih raziskav predstaviti kakšno mnenje, pravilna ali zmotna prepričanja, mitične predstave imajo enojezični govorci na Madžarskem, v zvezi z značilnostmi dvojezične jezikovne rabe in glede jezika zamejskih Madžarov. Izvor podatkov so ankete, ki celovito povzamejo jezikovne mite. V anketah smo merili stopnjo strinjanja udeležencev (z možnimi odgovori popolnoma se strinjam / deloma se strinjam / se ne strinjam) v zvezi s posamez­nimi jezikovnimi pojavi. Svoje mnenje so anketiranci morali tudi obrazložitvi. Anketiranci raziskav so bili študenti Visoke šole Károly Eszterházy v Egerju. Iz večine mnenj v anketi se opazno izraža odnos, po katerem je enojezičnost naravno stanje, zarišejo pa se tudi domneve, ki že predvidevajo različno funkcionalno rabo dveh jezikov in rabo v različnih položajih ter tudi posledice uporabe dveh jezikov. Sprememba prepričanj govorcev, ki se socializirajo v močno enojezičnem pogledu in živijo v enojezičnem okolju, je resnično pomembna z vidika vrednotenja jezikovnega položaja dvojezičnih Madžarov. Opinions and beliefs of monolingual speakers about BILINGUALISM On the basis of the results of an empiric research my study aims to account for what kind of opinions, correct, incorrect or mythical beliefs there are among monolingual people in Hungary about the nature of bilingualism and the language of Hungarians living outside Hungary. The results derive from a questionnaire analysing language myths in a comprehensive way: it measured the accordance of the answering people about different language phenomena (I totally agree/I partly agree/I don’t agree), and it required their explanation as well. The people giving answers were students of Eszterházy Károly College. In most of the opinions given to the questions on the one hand the approach that regarded monolingualism to be the natural case prevailed, on the other hand there appeared the belief of the so called double monolingualism, however, there were opinions as well that accounted for the use of the two languages for different functions in different situations and the consequences of the use of the two languages. Regarding the judgments of the linguistic situation of bilingual Hun­garians it is extremely important to change the opinion of speakers being socialised according to a monolingual approach and living in a monolingual environment. The most efficient way to do so is to become acquainted with bilingual speakers and situations as well as to spread the approach to bi- and multiple language use in the linguistic education at schools. 203
