JUNE 1978 ¥iGHT€* Page 7 POLITICS Rumania in Yugoslavia’s footsteps YUGOSLAVIA will be up for grabs, at least as soon as Joseph Broz Tito leaves this world. The gTab for the top leadership position is going to be Yugoslavia’s main issue of daily problems. More and more it seems that Yugoslavia’s pendulum-like political behaviour is going to be adopted by Rumania as had been well played out recently by Nicolae Ceausescu, Rumania’s red primeminister. Tito is old, leaving no visible and daring leadership behind him to follow. The West has accepted Yugoslavia’s conditions as well fit for the status quo and economical support. In Rumania, however, there are troubles; economic as well as national. The Vancouver Sun of April 13, 1978 (pg. 2) puts it this way: “—in his capital of Bucharest, Ceausescu plays a careful balancing game while keeping a wary eye on the Moscow line. He has frequently drawn critical fire from the Kremlin for his domestic and foreign policies, especially for his refusal to follow the Russian anti-Israel stand. His edging away from rigid Maxist theories is mots clearly reflected in his economic policies. Three weeks ago, for instance, Romania, traditionally one of the most centrally-controlled economies in the Eastern European bloc, announced a sweeping reorganization of its system under which individual enterprises will be given a much greater degree of autonomy. This reorganization is being called the New Mechanism by the statecontrolled Romanian propaganda and news media. It has entailed drastic departments, also the introduction of generous incentive payments for above-average worker productivity. " As usual, it will be advantageous for the West and particularly for the United States to do business with Rumania. On the surface the average citizen in the West is led to IgpUNC) UNITED NATIONS AIDS THE UTILIZATION OF THERMAL WATER IN HUNGARY believe that Rumania may be played against Russia by aiding her economy. In fact, however, Rumania is under close Soviet supervision and any Western aid is just an indirect way of helping the Russian imperialist hegemony in South-East Europe. The issue of Transylvania is going to be more and more a secondary one as the USA will sink deeper and deeper into Rumania’s interests. The only thing that President Carter will be able and willing to do is to blow a bit more hot air concerning The present conditions in China are spotted with intrigues from elements within and from outside the Peoples’ Republic. Chairman Mao pointed out: “You are making a Socialist revolution, and yet don't know where the Bourgeoisie is. It is right in the Communist Party-those in power taking the Capitalist road. The Capitalist-Roaders are still on the Capitalist road.” Mao also furnished the basic principles: To build Socialism and not Revisionism, he said, we must “. . . unite, and don’t split; be open and above-board, and don't intrigue and conspire,” by which the Capitalist-Roaders within the Party are exposed. In China, as well as in Hungary, there are basically seven(7) sectorsindustry, agriculture, commerce, cultural and education, the Army, the Government, and the Party. It is always the Party that must exercise over-all leadership and it is the Party that must be at various levels in the hands of the genuine people and not the Human Rights issue. However, that too, will be so general and so thinned out to fit “all minorities” so that it will mean anything for anyone and will embarrass no one— especially not Nicolae Ceausescu! Nevertheless, the Transylvanian Cultural Society of B.C., Canada, sent a telegram from Vancouver on Apr. 10, 1978 to US President James E. Carter reminding him of the conditions of the more than 3,000,000 Hungarians that live in slavery under Rumanian rule. — J K. -in the hands of the Revisionists, foreign-blooded and driven by foreign interests, pretending Marxists, who actually practice State- Capitalism for the benefit of Imperialist Soviet-Russian Chauvanism. The Chinese recognized early “the friendly Soviet intentions” which brought about the greatest split in the history of the development of Socialism. One of the chief aims of the Soviets always to weaken and confuse the powers of the national military in the occupied territories. For this, Chairman Mao often said: “The Army is the chief component of State Power. ” “ Without a Peoples' Army, the people have nothing.” Immediately after Mao’s death, internal and foreign interests set out to destroy the Chinese Peoples’ Army as one of their first aims, but since last October the changes in China’s leadership brought about conditions that manage to resist all atempts to destroy the Army, and so far, the country is stronger than ever. Upon the request of the Hungarian Government the United Nation contributed to the development of this health oriented project. The United Nation’s support provided the opportunity for Hungarian technical personnel to broaden their knowledge abroad and be able to obtain important research equipments. According to the agreement two-thirds of the expenses will be paid by the Peoples Republic of Hungary and one third will come from the United Nation’s technical development funds. One of the important aspects of this United Nation’s assistance to Hungary will be to make it possible to provide thermal therapy for people from all over the world. ANDREW YOUNG, the United States UN Ambassador said that the US is ready and willing to help out and support any nation, be it capitalist or socialist, whose government “makes an honest effort” in feeding its people! The Magyar is he who loves reason, who gives wind to emotions only when words may not work in the service of truth. People are communal — the good Magyar is humane and is a creative member of the Magyar Community.” Gyula Illés, 1939 (MagyarHit, pg. 2, March, 1978, Los Angeles, California.) * * * “We are only defending ourselves. Our past and our future that roots in it —on either side of the Királyhágó. We speak in opposition only to those national leaders who suffer from too much self esteem, lead their peoples astray and with nonexistent historical dillusions bring into fire the newly discovered racial consciousness.” Ferenc Fiala (“A Királynő Sírja”, Hídfő, XXXI. yr., No. 758-59, Apr. 1978, London, pg. 1.)
