HAJVíj'IÍj'JSS One fifth (1/5) of the world’s uranium deposits are known to be in Australia, yet there is only one mine in operation on that continent. (ABC News, August 15, 1977.) * * * The Syrians consider themselves to be the “true Proto-Arabs.” * * * The US tax and insurance payers cashed out 37 Billion dollars for auto accidents last year. * * * There have been more abortions than births in New York City in 1975. In 1976 the birth rate growth achieved O. in the USA in relation to the death rate. * * * In the month of August, 1977, in Syria a dreaded age-old disease, cholera, broke out again, and spread to other surrounding countries in the Middle East. Over 2000 people contracted it and already 70 of them died. » * * HIGH LABOR COSTS IN U.S. The US Zenith TV Company must send 5000 jobs over to Japan to remain competetive. The US workers do their jobs on Zenith TVs for $12,000 per year plus benefits on the average, while the Japanese can do it for $2,000 per year without benefits. The US unions are understandably very concerned. * * * SECRETS OF THE UFO’S Believe it or not —UFOs do not come from Russia! UFOs come from Israel —Each time there was a major war between the Israelis and the Arabs, there were major UFO sightings all over the world . . . “UFOs The Honorable Albert Yancopal, a judge from Benton County, Washington, USA, decided that the $12,000 to $15,000 which is paid to keep a prisoner locked-up in jails for a year is too much, and counterproductive both for the prisoner and the American taxpayer. He recently decided that sentencing the able criminal to work was more beneficial and it will teach a lesson to the unruly. The “prisoner” spends his regular eight hours working on various jobs in the service of the people of Benton Country and while are flown by angels who defend the Jews . . . reported by a believer to the 700 CLUB in the USA. Believe it or not, we have heard it on TV on the 700 CLUB program, a Christian religious program aired daily on WPGH TV, Channel 53. (9/28/77) * * * TOO MUCH TV Too much TV watching hinders family life, we are told by prominent educators, yet the average American youth by age 16 has watched 10,000 to 15,000 hours of television. A rating showed that the main power in the United States of America is surrounding the office of the United States President. The second is held by television. * * * If all churches in the world were filled to capacity on one Sunday, still only one percent (1%) of the world’s population would be in church. CAN’T DO WITHOUT HENRY It was reported recently in the United States News Media that Henry Kissinger and others in the U.S. Government knew a good deal about the South Korean, Park’s, bribery activities in Washington, DC. However, Henry Kissinger did not report it before the present investigating committee came into existence. Henry knew much about Watergate, as well, and many other wire-tappings were ordered by him during his career as a Secretary of State of the United States. The rest we all know: He is still free, he is immune and no one dares to question him, accept for advice —as US President James Carter very regularly does! on the job, he will even acquire a skill that will pay him well after the termination of his sentence. Further more, Judge Yancopal is not hesitant to punish those that are truly responsible, namely, the parents of young offenders. Frequently he will jail both the Mother and Father of a mischievous youngster, because the parents are responsible for the up-bringing and the eventual behavior of children. Well, it seems that commonsense still prevails in some remote spot of this world. (ABC News, 8/23/77.) TEACHING THROUGH PLAYING The well-known child pedagogist Kati Rékai published her second book, A Travel Guide for Children to introduce Ottawa to children between the ages of 5 to 14 years. The educator Rékai’s first travel guide for children was a great success in introducing Toronto to ■the readers because not only the children but adults of all ages are able to immerse themselves into the readable style of her book. This second book should prove to be just as successful as the first one because the parents of the Canadian Hungarian children gladly support the Hungarian teacher’s dedicated efforts. Magyar Hírek, XXIX. évf., 25. sz., Dec. 4, 1976 * * * Tangshan, a Chinese city near Peking, was totally destroyed last year by an earthquake. 3/4 of a million people were lost. The Chinese refused any outside help from other countries. They pledged to help themselves to avoid any dependence on foreign powers. It usually happens that Western “humanitarian” aid generally puts the recepient country under some sort of political obligation to the giver as we shall see in Rumania’s case. * * * NEW KODÁLY INSTITUTE IN AUSTRALIA The deep respect for the Hungarian genius in music and the spirit of the October 23, 1956 Hungarian Freedomfight was manifested in Sydney, Australia, when on October 26, 1976 the Australian Kodály Institute became a fact. At the opening ceremonies the various officials of the local Ministry of Education appeared and the honorary presidency was awarded to the Consul of the Hungarian People’s Republic in Australia. Almost exactly twenty years later to the day the Australian people found this way to express their admiration for Hungarian culture and their respect for freedom. Magyar Hírek, XXIX. évf., 25. sz., Dec. 4, 1976 * * * — Did you know that the basic dance step of the American Indian resembles the Hungarian Csárdás? Hungarian Review, 6-1977 * * * HUNGARATHON’S ‘CHRISTUS ORATORIO’ Hungarathon’s recording of a Liszt composition ‘Christus Oratorio’ has won a prize awarded by the critics of the prestigious Spanish music periodical El Ritmo. The quality and polularity of the recording, which was released by the leading Spanish firm, Hispovox, under license from Hungarathon, fully justify the title ‘Record of the Year’, in the opinion of the critics. Hungarian Review, 6-1977 * * * Berlin is one of the largest Turkish cities in the world, showed a recent survey in Germany. * * * MAN’S ORIGIN RE-CALCULATED The human race could have originated in Asia as well as Africa. An international team of scientists found remains of possible human ancestors in Pakistan that could be over 13 million years old —almost three times as old as primitive human fossils. One conclusion: It’s likely that the same human evolutionary process that took place in Africa also occurred in South Asia. The newly-found fossils are pre-men — not really men and not really apes. The discovery may mean the evolutionary split between ape and man occurred twice as long ago as previously estimated. (Mechanix Illustrated/August 77, Page 8.) * * * Eastern philosophies and thoughts in general are considered false in most Western IQ. Tests.
