Szemészet Supplementum I. 46 Results/ Conclusions: A chronic disease of lifelong duration, keratoconus causes a number of difficulties in everyday life. Keratoplasty generally helps to bring about a positive change in these problems. However, in most cases even after keratoplasty contact lens wear is necessary in order for these patients to have appropriate visual acuity, or to regain binocular vision. Proposal for implementation of a contact-lens curriculum in the training of ophthalmologists Anna Gruber, Gerald Langmann, Andreas Wedrich Medical University of Graz (Austria), Department of Ophthalmology Background: The aim of this work is the proposal for implementation of a structured qualification in contactology in the third and fourth qualification year for residents specialising in ophthalmology. Because of the inadequate level of contact lens qualification at the present time, there is an urgent need for restructure and improvement. Method: As foundation of the curriculum should serve a catalogue of educational objectives, as we have seen from the SOG (Swiss Ophthalmological Society). The educational objectives are subdivided into theoretical and practical knowledge. To achieve the objectives we need: • teamwork between clinic and university • the employment of an contact-lens specialist • curriculum time: l-2x per week, for 30 minutes • the existence of a comprehensive supply depot for contact lenses and care products Especially the practical part of the curriculum should enable the students not only to perform simple contact lens fitting, but also to deal with more complex ophthalmic diseases. Discussion: At the present time there is an inadequate qualification for residents of ophthalmology in the area of contact lens fitting, because of the absence of a curriculum in contactology. On the other hand there is also a lack of continuity: there is frequent changeover of specialists, a lack of time, and the economic factors are the subject of politics. In the future the specialist will have to deal with opticians, optometrists and orthoptists. Because of these ever expanding requirements, a structured qualification in contactology is urgently needed. Célunk ezen kórképek áttekintése illetve bemutatása különböző esetek kapcsán. A Ultrahang Biomikroszkópiának (UBM) nemcsak a diagnózis felállításában, a folyamat nyomon követésében van szerepe, hanem a differenciál diagnosztikában is.
