140. évfolyam (2003) Supplementum I. 77 or traumatic origin; III. Patients with problems other than those in Group I and II. Further, the case records of patients who underwent re-keratoplasty were analysed, as well as the healing process of transplants. The mean follow-up time was 8 months (range 3-18 months). Results: The visual acuity of patients in Group I improved by on average 0.2, while in Groups II and III the improvements were 0.1 and 0.2 respectively. In the least favourable cases, the vision had not improved by the end of the follow-up time. The best visual acuity result, 0.6-1.0, was in patients operated on for corneal dystrophies. Conclusion: Keratoplasty proved most successful in cases of corneal dystrophies; but even when visual acuity remained unchanged, in patients with bullous keratopathy it relieved them of some of their personal discomfort. 29 August 2003 CONTACTOLOGY 1 - CORNEA
