135. évfolyam (1998) 75 Tisztelt Szerző! Az észak-amerikai Egyesült Államok néhány általános orvosi folyóiratának szerkesztője 1978-ban találkozott Vancouverben, Brit Kolumbiában, hogy megállapodjanak az általuk képviselt újságokhoz benyújtott kéziratok iránti követelményekben. A szerkesztők e csoportja „Vancouver Csoportéként vált ismertté. A kéziratok követelményeit, melyek az irodalomjegyzékben idézett cikkek egységesítésére is vonatkoztak, a National Library of Medicine (Washington, Bethesda), a Medline és az Index Medicus (Philadelphia) a Csoporthoz csatlakozó képviselői is segítettek kidolgozni. Ezek az ajánlások először 1979-ben jelentek meg. A Vancouver Csoport az International Committee of Medical Journal of Editors (ICMJE) bizottsággá alakult és bővült, a bizottság évente ülésezik; fokozatosan bővítve a témákat, amelyekkel foglalkozik. A Bizottság a „Uniform requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals” öt kiadását jelentette meg. Az évek folyamán olyan ajánlások is születtek, amik a kézirat elkészítését meghaladják. Ezeket az ajánlásokat részben az „Egységes ajánlások” tartalmazzák, részben külön ajánlásként jelentek meg. Mindegyik ajánlás megjelent tudományos folyóiratokban. Az ötödik kiadás (1977) arra törekszik, hogy újra szervezze és szövegezze a negyedik kiadást, növelve az érthetőséget és megszövegezve a jogi vonatkozásokat, a betegek anonimitásának védelmét, a módszerek leírását, stb. A Szemészetben közölt „Felhívás a szerzőkhöz” az ajánlásokkal kiegészült, hogy igazodjon ezekhez az elvárásokhoz, kérjük, hogy kövessék ezeket az ajánlásokat a kézirat elkészítése folyamán. Augenheilkd. 211, 139 (1997) Dear Author, A small group of editors of general medical journals of the USA met informally in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1978 to establish guidelines for the format of manuscripts submitted to their journals. The group became known as the Vancouver Group. Its requirements for manuscripts, including formats for bibliographic references were developed also by the National Library of Medicine, Washington, Bethesda, the Medline, Index Medicus in Philadelphia and were first published in 1979. The Vancouver Group expanded and evolved into the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors /ICMJE/ which meets anually, gradually it has broadened its concerns. The Committee has produced five editions of the “Uniform requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals”. Over the years, issues have arisen that go beyond, manuscript preparation. Some of these issues are now covered in the “Uniform Requirements” others are addressed in separate statements. Each statement has been published in a scientific journal. The fifth edition (1997) is an effort to reorganize and reword the fourth edition to increase clarity and address concerns about rights, privacy, description of methods and other matters.
