A DALMÁCIAI EGYHÁZAK SZEREPE IMRE ÉS ANDRÁS TRÓNHARCA IDEJÉN (1197–1204) 178 stated that the ecclesiastical policy of Prince Andrew was less clear cut than hitherto supposed by scholarly research. While some prelates did receive support from either the prince or the king for their election, they then remained on good terms with both of them despite the war that set King Emeric in opposition to Prince Andrew. Quite nat­urally, the Dalmatian prelates must have been led by the interests of their own church and city, in which they played a leading diplomatic role on account of their multiple positions.
