of the members of the clerical group to which Ferenc Himfy belonged were born in the 1910s, and it was basically their responsibility, then in the most active phase of their lives, to find those new forms and channels which would mediate both Catholic faith and an authentic way of behaviour and social view towards the new generations under the circumstances of a totaliarian state. In an ever more menacing atmosphere, these small groups created the germs of a rival publicity, which aroused the attention of the state security, leading to the arrest and trial of Bulányi and his companions.
