A MAGYAR TÖRTÉNELMI TÁRSULAT 2012. ÉVI VÁNDORGYŰLÉSE - Ormos Mária: Lehet-e magyar történelmet írni egyetemes történelem nélkül? I/167
175 A MAGYAR TÖRTÉNELMI TÁRSULAT 2012. ÉVI VÁNDORGYŰLÉSE IS IT POSSIBLE TO WRITE HUNGARIAN HISTORY WITHOUT INTERNATIONAL HISTORY? by Mária Ormos (Summary) The lecture departs from the basic principle that it is impossible to understand the history of any given country without a profound knowledge of the conditions of its international environment. And this principle does not hold only for little countries. Nor can great powers and their leaders make themselves independent from the events and processes which take place in other parts of the world. Through the analysis of examples chosen from as far afield as the Hungarian settlement and the fall of the Communist regime, and the whole intervening period, the author proves that there exists no section or major turning point in the history of Hungary which could be interpreted in separation from the trends and power conditions operating in its closer and wider international environment - be it questions of economic, political or military character.
