KÖZLEMÉNYEK AZ 1711. ÉVI SZATMÁRI BÉKE TÖRTÉNETÉRŐL - R. Várkonyi Ágnes: Végig nem vitt viták. A szatmári béke a történetírásban IV/763

A SZATMÁRI BÉKE A TÖRTÉNETÍRÁSBAN 797 turned into an amnestial peace concluded, while concealing the death of emperor Joseph I, by the respective leaders of the imperial and Hungarian troops, field marshal count János Pálffy and general baron Sándor Károlyi, in the form of a compromise between the Hungarian estates and the imperial court. She indicates the struggles of scholars such as György Pray (1723-1801), László Szalay (1813-1864 ), Dávid Angyal (1857-1943), Sándor Domanovszky (1877-1955), Gyula Szekfű (1883-1955), István Hajnal (1892-1956), István Bibó (1912-1976) and others against the romantic views, in order to offer an objective reconstruction of the peace treaty which ended with the exile of Rákóczi and his companions. The study also hints at the European embeddedness of the Hungarian peace culture, rarely discussed in the literature.
