TANULMÁNYOK - Pál Judit: Karrier a „tudatlanság földén". Egy főúri kliens a 18. század közepén Kelet-Magyarországon VI/1407

1454 PAL JUDIT patron, the relationship, as is proved by the case of Zanathy, was not void of personal affection. The multiple function assumed by Zanathy is a perfect illustration of the thesis elaborated by Max Weber, according to which one of the main features of patrimonial rule is the absence of the modern notions of „competence". The patron-client relationship remained one of the main means of social and geographical mobility. Zanathy had his sons educated with the help of the Károlyis. One of his sons became a geometra, the other served the county first as a szolgabíró and then as chief tax collector. His posterity remained in the service of the counts and more general in that of Szatmár county.
