KRÓNIKA - IN MEMORIAM 1956 (Summarys) 1339

1340 IN MEMÓRIÁM 1956 György Marosán with the Leaders of the Soviet Communist Party on 25 September 1957. It is a less known fact that after the negotiations of the delegation of the Hungarian party and government, led by János Kádár, during their official visit to Moscow in March 1957, new talks took place in September of the same year. The Hungarian delegation, on the occasion of a visit to China, stopped in Moscow two times, and negotiated unofficially with different members of the Soviet leadership. No document has hitherto been unerarthed in Hungary concerning these talks. János Kádár informed the members of the Political Committee about the journey at the session of 9 October 1957, but the report was not included in the existing records. Kádár in his speech before members of the Party on 11 October also limited himself to mentioning their brief double visit to Moscow and the unofficial friendly talks with the Soviet leaders, among them Khruschev, first secretary of the Soviet Comunist Party. The present document survived in the Foreigh Archives of the Russian Federation, in the so-called Hungarian referature. It summarises the content of the talks of János Kádár and György Marosán with the Sovied leaders which took place before their departure to China.
