Sir, I waited on Count Andrassy this morning and told him (as instructed by Your Excellency's telegram of yesterday) that Her Majesty's Government were much gratified at his declaration, made to you in a recent conversation, that while he does not suspect any Government of wishing to abandon the Treaty of Berlin, it is his resolution to stand by any Government that shows a determination to uphold it. I added that Her Majesty's Government wished His Excellency to be informed that this- language exactly coincides with their own views and intentions. Count Andrassy desired me to convey to Your Excellency, in reply, his great satisfaction at the message of Her Majesty's Government. I have the honour etc.
